Improved Comfort

Your home is a sanctuary and it should always feel great to be inside it.

Making Your Home Comfortable

Homes and buildings are meant to be comfortable. If you are getting too hot on sunny afternoons, or you cannot seem to keep warm on cool foggy days, your home is not performing. At Energy Beyond Design, we carefully listen to your comfort issues – after all, you are the expert on your own home. We use advanced diagnostic tools including a Blower Door and Infrared Camera to figure out exactly what is causing parts of your home to be uncomfortable. Our expert technicians are specifically trained to identify problems common in the climates of the Bay Area. With this knowledge, we can devise a plan to make your home the comfy space it was meant to be.

Common comfort concerns:

  • Rooms too cold
  • Rooms too hot
  • Drafty spots
  • Hot upstairs, cold downstairs
  • Cooling or heating does not reach parts of your home
  • Too humid

Determining the cause:

Blower door:

Air leaking from the attic can make upstairs rooms too hot, or air infiltration from the crawl space can make the downstairs too cold. We use a blower door on every job to determine exactly where air leakage is occurring.

Infrared Camera:

With our state-of-the art infrared cameras, we are able to pinpoint where heat is entering or leaving your home.

Visual inspection:

Our technicians identify problem areas that lead to uncomfortable conditions.

How a retrofit will help:

Based on the findings of your energy audit, Energy Beyond Design develops a customized retrofit plan. Making your home comfortable is all about combining several different measures to get the desired result. For example, if your upstairs rooms are too hot, we might air-seal major leaks to the outside with foam, install R-38 insulation in the attic, optimize your duct system to deliver better airflow, and replace poorly performing windows. Or if one of the rooms on the North side of the house is always cold, we might air seal, blow-in better insulation in the walls, upgrade windows, and optimize the heating system to keep this room warmer. It really depends on your home, comfort issues, local climate and goals.

Beyond Comfort:

Along with improved comfort, our customers enjoy healthier and safer indoor living, reduced utility bills, and are doing their part to fight global climate change.
